Infrared Thermography

NFPA 70B–aligned electrical inspections that find heat-related faults before they fail.
Actionable reports. Minimal disruption.

There are only so many electrical maintenance items you can perform while the plant is running.

Infrared thermography is one of them — letting you inspect energized equipment without shutting down. Do your IR survey during production so you make the most of your limited maintenance opportunities.

What’s Infrared Thermography?

Non-contact thermal scanning of electrical assets to identify abnormal temperature rise caused by loose connections, load imbalance, insulation breakdown, or failing components. We follow NFPA 70B guidance on scope, method, and documentation.

What Equipment Needs It?

  • All electrical panels over 24V (AC or DC)
  • Main switchgear, MCCs, panelboards, breakers, buswork, terminations
  • Transformers, starters, VFDs, capacitor banks, ATS/UPS
  • Critical production lines and distribution equipment

C Phase Connection is loose.  The issue went unnoticed during another contractor’s recent preventive maintenance.

How Our Process Works

Straightforward, predictable, and built to give you clarity and options.

1. Walkthrough & Quote

We start with a walkthrough of your facility. We'll have a look at your equipment, any previous IR surveys, and possibly an electrical one-line diagram.  Once we understand your needs and  priorities, we'll give you a clear scope and price up front.

2. Perform the Survey

We perform the survey during normal plant operations.  We'll work with a member of your maintenance team to safely access your facility's electrical equipment and take thermographic images.  Any urgent or emergency issues will be reported to you on the spot.

3. Report You Can Use

We provide you with a clear, risk-based report of all findings and anomalies.  People used to just use it to satisfy their auditor or insurance company.  Nowadays, people are using it to make the most of their maintenance windows by using the data to prioritize maintenance and repairs.

4. (Optional) Repair & Follow-Up

Along with your report, we’ll provide a quote for repairs. If you want us to come back in and handle the fixes, we can. If you’d rather keep it in-house, you’ve still got everything documented.

Severity & Prioritization

Findings are classified by temperature rise, load condition, and risk to safety/production. Critical items trigger immediate notification. Non-critical items go into your PM plan with a corrective action and retest date.
